Happy Mother’s Day

Noah's sand and shell art

It’s Mother’s Day in New Zealand today and we are celebrating. It’s actually a bit of a re-run of the British one back in March but for various reasons that didn’t work out. Noah surprised me with a big bar of chocolate and even organised a cup of tea in the hostel kitchen. What more could anyone want for breakfast! It certainly explains why he asked me to stand outside Fresh Choice on Friday whilst he did some ‘important shopping’! The cards, from before, have also been dug out from my backpack and now stand proudly on the bedside table.

We spent a lovely hour this morning looking at our photos of the last 4 months and talking about all the wonderful places we have visited. ¬†Travelling solo with a child certainly brings its challenges but Noah makes all the ‘difficult’ bits pale into insignificance. Today, I feel really blessed to be able to share this time with him and so to all mothers out there I wish you a very Happy Mother’s Day!

Anyway, got to go – we’re off to a Japanese Festival!
