It’s my birthday and for once the sun is out

Falling on midsummer day people often assume, quite wrongly incidentally, that my birthday is always hot and sunny – however, they’d be right this year because the thermometer is hitting 26 degrees today! Can there be a better place to spend your birthday than here at the Esplanade lagoon in Cairns?

We’re settling into OZ in the only way that seems appropriate – in the sunshine by the water! We’ve bought t-shirts and shorts, and even water pistols in an attempt to stay cool. New Zealand was hardly cold but this is heaps better. More tales to come as we start our Australian adventure.

Happy Birthday my lovely! If you get a chance, go down the coast a little to Townsville … I used to live there. Not a great deal to do in town, but quite excellent aquarium and you can jump straight on the ferry out to Magnetic Island and spend a day or two out there – definitely worth a visit!

    • thanks jac, off on a waterfall and then savannah trip with a hire car – seems like a good combination! Then up to Great Barrier Reef. Noah’s like idea of a Magnetic Island afterwards. Can;t wait to catch up with you.
